Concrete monoliths are keeping me from the fresh air
Suffocating, always freezing, always hungry
I had it all in my hands so long ago

Left myself no other choice but to be set free
Just as I think I'll rise again I'm kicked in the teeth
This place where I enjoyed my sins shows me no remorse
What surrounds me will now pull me head under foot

Around my waist, tied the burden I have caused
Pockets filled with the remnants of my life
Total grief, there is no one to stop me

To see my breath float away, I except death inside me

I can feel hands and fingers racing up my legs to untie my despair

I shed myself of all human ways as I sense more life with my "death"
A city under city, this is my new home, I will forever live within its depths!

DREAD Boston, Massachusetts
DREAD was born officially June 20, 1990. The initial lineup was Denny Hanley-
guitar/vocals, Steve Nelson- guitar,
Mark Selig- drums, John "Boog" Berkeley- bass.
The quartet entered the studio for the first time July of 1990 and recorded 4 songs for the demo Ugly, Blatant, Real. They got their first gig July 30, 1990 opening for then- up and coming band Biohazard at Deringer's in Brockton, MA.
